Rooftop Closing Party - 21st September

You’ll find us on the rooftop of the Queen of Hoxton toasting the end of another fantastic summer on the 21st of September.

Following the success of the ‘Silent Disco’ series of rooftop parties we’ll be looking to blow the roof off one last time before the return of the WIGWAMBAM.

KMG, TImmy and Debonair will all be on hand to provide the last sun kissed jamz of the summer between 4-6pm.

Tapped pres: Twitch, Belfast @ Queen of Hoxton 20/09/13

Nearly seven years ago now, messrs Phil Lucas, Paddy Towe and Mark Whyte set out with the intention of booking some DJs and putting on a party. Nothing new there you might ask. But fast forward to today and they’ve played host to a remarkable list of names, and all in lil ol Belfast, NI. Pepe Bradock, Levon Vincent, Ben UFO, Bicep, Soundstream, Stacy Pullen, Joy Orbison…. the list goes on and on. Hats off to the Twitch guys for having the gumption to make something happen and daring to dream big.

As a result of playing along side such an illustrious cast, Phil, Paddy and Mark have had an opportunity to cut their teeth and learn from the best, and are now excellent DJs in their own right. So to honour their achievement of reaching lucky number 7, we’ve invited all three of them over to London to let them loose on our monthly residency at the Queen of Hoxton.

Free in before 8pm, £5 thereafter, or £3 if you click ‘attending’ on the facebook event page.

Eddie C: To Infinity and Beyond

Canadian chug meister Eddie C is in town this weekend for the Needwant party at Basing House on Saturday 7th Sept, and I’m reliably informed he’s carrying a bag full of bombs.

He’s also had a good chin wag with Sam Jacobs at Pulse. A great article, which you can read….

… chock full of youtube clips, and with a 60min Eddie C mix thrown in for good measure.

Micheal Cook (Low life) - Diz yer Mammy Ken?

The little mix that couldn’t decide what it wanted to be when it grew up. Low life resident Micheal Cook meanders on a journey through dub, italo, cosmic, ambient, proto-house, disco, deep house and a touch of electro…. this is the second mix in as many months that he’s put up on his Soundcloud page and for track selection they’re two of the best we’ve heard all year. Fingers crossed the output continues….

Tapped present: Principal Records w/ Squarehead

    August 30th @ Birthdays Dalston

For our summer season party we’ve rustled together something special for your ears…. Messrs Rob Fahey (aka Alphabet City) and Jeff Daniels earlier this year launched Principal Records. Forged from a love of house music with raw driven arrangement, yet with a core rooted in soul. The initial blue 12” release received much acclaim, particularly Medlar’s ‘86 remix’, an elongated acid tinged workout, with mixmag given it a hearty 8/10 and suggesting we “keep an eye on this imprint”… well, we have…

So what better way to mark their forthcoming second release, than to get the men responsible up to London for a showcase with their next remixer, Squarehead in tow.

Squarehead (5andSeven): 19year old Oliver Ledger has had an exceptional past couple of years, achieving more than most producers do in a lifetime, with releases on Manucci’s Mistress, 5andSeven and Wolf Music… as well as forthcoming releases on Principal and Waze & Odyssey Street tracks. Even with a prolific string of releases, the quality has remained consistently high, and he’s only getting started. Expect lashings of jackin’ house, spanking 808 claps, warbling acid rifs, and baselines that wouldn’t be out of place in 90’s Chi-town.

Principal also bring further support in the the form of Scott ‘thatmanmonkz’ Moncrieff, one half of production duo S&M from Principals first release, to even up the numbers, and of course we’ll have the full compliment of Debonair, Slothboogie, KMG & Timmy from the Tapped stables to join the dots.

To mark the occasion we’ve got a venue that’s befitting of the lineup in Birthdays, Dalston, with a no nonsense sound system for an evening of no nonsense house music. There won’t be any ‘first release’ ‘early bird’ ‘weekend pass’ ‘VIP’ ‘concession’ drip feeding either…. Free before 10.30pm… £5 thereafter. Plain and simple.

    See you there.

mixmag live present: CRew love with soul clap, wolf + lamb & more

Crew Love is the family unit made up of Wolf + Lamb, Soul Clap, No Regular Play, Pillow Talk, Tanner Ross, Slow Hands, Navid Izadi and Nick Monaco. Brothers from different mothers, these boys come together to throw down a unique party vibe like only they know how.

The squad has grown over several years, encompassing artists that key Crew Love members Wolf + Lamb and Soul Clap have met along their travels on the road. Through tireless partying, A & R work and the creative hub that is The Marcy in New York, the two duos have brought together an impressive line-up of artists who deliver a definite musical mission statement.

A full day and nighter in Shoreditch’s East Village (car park by day) it promises to be a crackin’ end to the summer.

"Music is the celestial sound, and it is sound that controls the whole universe, not atomic vibrations."

Ahead of their Sancho Panza Notting Hill Carnival “Flyover Fanfare” after party this Sunday Psychemagik have gifted Ransom Note an exclusive mix.

The UK duo, known for their sensational disco and psychedelic edits, obscenely vast record collections, beautiful production work and transcendent mixtape journeys, are being heralded as a truly unique and positive presence in today’s music landscape.

Sancho Panza, the house music legends, return to The Notting Hill Carnival this weekend, for their 20th year.

Beginning in 1992 in humble basement surroundings the London party crew have since taken the world by storm, hosted and rocked some of the finest parties from warehouses and studios, to cinemas, gyms and their legendary boat parties on the Thames. The boys have toured and played the festival circuit including Glastonbury, Sonar, Glade, Big Chill and Bestival as well as our very own homegrown Carnival street party.

Notting Hill Carnival, Junction of Middle Row & Conlan Street, Kensal Rise, W10 5DB from 12 – 7 pm on Sunday 25th August and Monday 26th August.

Wild Life! @ Queen of Hoxton

Our residency (and love affair) at Wild Life continues…. You can find us hosting the basement every 3rd Friday of the month, with residents Debonair, Slothboogie, KMG & Timmy providing a no nonsense soundtrack of House, Haus, and Hoose.

It also provides a platform for us to get some of our chums on stage to aid proceedings… with Danny Ashenden (The c90s), Lancelot, (and soon to be) Twitch, Belfast getting festive with us down in the basement.

It’s always free in before 8pm, and we crack the shell on the Funktion One downstairs at 9pm….

Marquis Hawkes - Feel My Bicep podcast

55min of raw, driven, house music. Never a dull moment in this mix as Marquis splices together a plethora of late night NYC style jams.

Within it you can find an edit of George Fitzgerald “Nighttide Lover”, as well as a cheeky Marquis track from the vaults.

If your lacking the conviction to do something today, this’ll soon give you the kick up the arse you require.

    Tapped ft Lancelot

This Friday we welcome one of Australia’s best up and coming house maestros … Lancelot. On the long haul from Sydney to the depths of the Queen of Hoxton basement for an evening of humid house hopscotch, Lancelot has promised to perform better than the Ozzies did against the Lions…. hit attending on the Facebook Event to get automatic cheaplist.

    More info soon……
